We set a scramble comp to start things off!

We have 30 scramble boulders of progressively increasing difficulty throughout the gym, and for $10 (donated to YESS - Youth Empowerment & Support Services) you can get yourself a scorecard and see how you match up!

Details and rules are at the bottom of the page, or you can ask a Niche staff!

Results will be posted online the week after the scramble closes, but won't count for any prizes (outside of bragging rights...).

Official Rules

In a scramble, you choose which routes to attempt, how many times, and in what order. You can watch other climbers on routes and share beta. This scramble runs all week but each attempt has a one day time limit - I.E. you must return your completed scorecard on the same day you buy it.

To compete, buy a $10 score card from the front desk (all proceeds go to YESS - Youth Empowerment & Support Services)

Scoring

This competition is scored on the honour system! You are responsible for scoring your own card (you can also team up with a friend and score each other).

  • Mark every attempt on a problem with a tick mark in the corresponding attempt # column.

    • An attempt is counted any time both feet have left the ground.

    • For an eligible start, you must establish a controlled position on the marked start hold(s) - no lightning-quick grabs for the next hold!

  • To record a successfully completed (topped) problem, mark a “T” in the corresponding attempt # column.

    • For an eligible top, you must establish a controlled position with both hands on the marked finish holds

  • Submit your score card to the front desk when finished! Score cards are entered in a draw for an annual Rock Jungle membership, but you will NOT be entered in the draw unless you submit your completed score card!

Other Stuff

  • You can buy and attempt as many score cards as you want, though only the results from the earliest dated card will be posted on the website

  • Results will be posted on the website, but do NOT count for prizing.

    • This is not a strict competition format. We recommend getting a score card before trying any scramble boulders, but don’t require it. So scores don’t necessarily capture flash attempts, and are really just for fun!

  • Have fun!
